DIY Beach Inspired Throw Pillows

Throw pillows are one of the most affordable ways to spruce up your home. Shopping for throw pillows that are coastal inspired is harder than you think; either they are too expensive, all white, or just plain tacky. I love the idea of making my throw pillows; you can control the quality, design, and colors plus sewing pillows are one of the easier sew projects you can do in my opinion. Here are a few ideas that will get you inspired. Plus I included some no sew ideas as well.

I heart this nautical pillow from The Thinking Closet. There’s something about adding a little red heart that makes it special. This is gong on my to do list.

This adorable felt fish tutorial from The Thinking Closet is a great companion piece to the nautical anchors pillow tutorial.

No-Sew Linen and Burlap Starfish Pillow from Confessions of a Plate Addict.

I heart the idea of recovering old pillows. Our Southern Home recovered her outdoor pillows with this fabulous Premier Prints Indoor/Outdoor Coral Yellow/White fabric from Online Fabric Store. Her tutorial is easy to follow (scroll half way down to find the tutorial on her page).

Debbie from Refresh Restyle has this great DIY that requires no sewing and utilizes my favorite free graphic site, Graphic’s Fairy. I adore her blogging style because her personality comes out in her writing. At one point she states “I’m a member of the FPHS (Feather Pillow Hoarding Society),” which I’m pretty sure a lot of us are members of.

If you are like me, you will have bags and bags of beautiful seashells waiting to be used in your next crafting project; well, look no further because those shells are about to become a stamp. The Kim Six Fix used her shells this way, and the result was a lovely throw pillow….swoon
